Text: Genesis 15

What’s our vision of making Christ-like disciples among people?

We should not be ashamed sharing God to our society. He is the center of our society.

According to the dictionary, Vision is…
-the faculty or state of being to be
-the ability to think about the future with imagination or wisdom
-a mental image of what the future will or could be like

When we don’t have a vision, we can be left burn out. Things will just turn out to be a routine for us. Likewise, the Church should have a vision. It must see what God wants it to see.

What’s our vision as a Church?
1. He wants us to see ourselves.
He desires to see in us matured disciples breeding matured ones.

Pre-requisite for Abraham’s reception of God’s Vision:

A. Maturity is measured when we’re self empty. Genesis 13
Self-empty – no longer considering one’s rights and benefits but more of other’s.

B. Maturity is measured when we’re loving the unlovable
Loving those who are unworthy of our love.
In Genesis 14, Abraham risked losing everything he had acquired by rescuing Lot when he was taken by evil kings.

Remember:Real love is shown when one chooses to take a risk for a loved one.

C. Maturity is measured when we’re giving tithes to the Lord for it’s a sign that we acknowledge everything we have as His.

Worthy of praise is the Most High God, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Abram gave a tenth of everything.
-Genesis 14:20

We have to be breeding matured ones. This should start with the matured ones.

2. He wants to see in us dreaming big and believing.
There are people who have big dreams but do not believe that God is able to provide. Some have big faith but have small dreams. They are satisfied with small stuffs.

We have to learn to dream big at the same time believe. Multiply.

Remember: We can count on Him.
When we believe that our God is great, why settle for small dreams?

After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram! I am your shield and the one who will reward you in great abundance.”
-Genesis 15:1

We are naturally weak and sinners.

But Abram said, “O sovereign Lord , what will you give me since I continue to be childless, and my heir is Eliezer of Damascus?” Abram added, “Since you have not given me a descendant, then look, one born in my house will be my heir!”
-Genesis 15:2-3

We are weaker than we thought we’re not.

Abram believed the Lord , and the Lord considered his response of faith as proof of genuine loyalty. The Lord said to him, “I am the Lord who brought you out from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.”
-Genesis 15:6-7

More often than not, we are caught with our usual questions and dilemmas to God:
-How to pay side lot rental
-How to acquire new sets of sound system for the extension building
-How to manage to add overhead expenses

YET above ALL circumstances, we should always have the heart to dream God’s dream and believe that it is His dream.

3. God wants us to keep on going, to continue and to persevere.

Despite our incapabilities and weaknesses, God doesn’t want us to stop. He wants us to move forward, the more to persevere.

In verses 9-12, Abraham was asking for a sign and God gave him what he was asking for. God has standards. He wants us to comply as how He commanded. He wants a perfect and wholehearted act of sacrifice.

The Lord said to him, “Take for me a heifer, a goat, and a ram, each three years old, along with a dove and a young pigeon.”
-Genesis 15:9

As we keep on going, let us:
-Keep worshiping God
-Keep seeking His will
-Keep doing the means of His grace (pray, meditate on His Word, attend small group, serve others)

God’s Promise to Abraham:

Then the Lord said to Abram, “Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a foreign country. They will be enslaved and oppressed for four hundred years. But I will execute judgment on the nation that they will serve. Afterward they will come out with many possessions. But as for you, you will go to your ancestors in peace and be buried at a good old age.
-Genesis 15:13-15

1. He wants us to see that we are matured, self-empty, loving the unlovable and breeding matured disciples.
2. He wants us to see that we are dreaming big and believing unto the greatness of His power.
3. He wants us to keep on going, to continue and to persevere in our walk with Him.
