The Comfort Christian

Text: Philippians 2

I. Not United with the Body v.1-2

A comfort Christian is contrary to the Word of God. It is not united with the body.
We are the Church. The Church is not the building. We must be concern with one another, united in prayer.

II. A comfort Christian is Selfish v.3-4
“Better is one day in the house of God than a thousand elsewhere.”

Characteristics of a Comfort Christian:

A. Choosey!

The spiritual discipline is no longer practiced.
He prefers a convenient schedule.
He only prefers a drive thru type of church service.

It is not God who has to adjust with our schedule. It is seek Him first, and not a seek OURSELVES. Matthew 6:33

We will not succeed when we prefer a Comfort Christian living.

B. Mishandles God’s Word (Doesn’t follow it or share it)

2 Timothy 2:15 A Comfort Christian doesn’t like sermons that hurt.
Hebrews 4:12 – God’s Word is a double edged sword.

While we’re reading the Word, we get hurt for we are sinners. God is cleaning us up.
In John, he talks that He is the Vine and we are the branches. We are pruned to be corrected.
The Bible is not a comfort food. It is written to correct us. Don’t be choosey in sharing the gospel.

III. Contrary to Christ

We should have the same mindset of Christ. V.6
He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross.
He is actually encouraging us to TAKE UP OUR CROSS. Our goal should be to be like Christ. He left heaven for us.

Hindi dapat maging on fire pag masarap lang, kundi dahil masarap talaga maging on fire.

It’s more fun in HEAVEN.

What’s your heaven? We need to leave our comfort zone. Be a complete Christian.

Don’t be a comfort Christian. Be the committed one.

Worship God even in trials and pain, in loud, soft, warm and cool.
